Information

Coronaviruses (COVID-19) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases. Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted between animals and people.

Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.

Standard recommendations to prevent infection spread include regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, thoroughly cooking meat and eggs. Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.

  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth

  • Be aware of intimate social interactions

  • Practice respiratory hygiene (Ensure to sneeze in your elbow)

  • What shall I do if I have the described symptoms?

Call ahead to a healthcare professional if you develop a fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough or difficulty breathing, and have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19 or if you live in or have recently traveled to an area with ongoing spread. Tell your healthcare professional about your recent travel or contact. Your healthcare professional will work with your state’s public health department and determine if you need to be tested for COVID-19.

Quarantine

Youpal follows the Public Health Agency of Sweden with regards to quarantine policy and advises everyone to follow.


This information is addressed to people who have recently travelled from an area with ongoing transmission of the new coronavirus. What do you need to do? If you have been in an area where the virus is spreading within the past 14 days (as this is the incubation period before signs of disease):

  • If you develop respiratory symptoms such as cough or difficulty breathing or fever – call 1177 or your local healthcare professional for health advice. General measures to prevent the spread of infection

  • You should self quarantine yourself or quarantine at your local hospital

  • If you self quarantine yourself, ensure you have a support group to help you.

  • When coughing and sneezing, remember to cover your nose and mouth with flexed elbow.

  • Wash your hands with soap and water.
